As an introduction to Lighthouse Evangelical Ministries I would like to explain why Lighthouse was chosen as a part of our name.  The name is very near and dear to me because of the wonderful things that were accomplished as a member of the Austin Lighthouse Street Ministry, and later the Lighthouse Singers.

First I would like to introduce you to the Lighthouse Singers. The music you should hear playing right now is the song "Jesus is Coming Soon" from the one and only album we recorded.  If you are on a dial-up link to the internet, it may take a minute for the song to play. If your browser will not allow you to hear the song, I have made it available for you to download by clicking on the album link for that song which should bring it up in Windows Media Player.  If you would like a copy on your hard drive simply right click your mouse over the song and then click on "Save Target As..."

****After 30 years I have been able to be reunited with one of the two people that originally lead me to the Lord.  In celebration for this miracle of finding Sonny, for a short time I am making available more than just the song "Jesus Is Coming Soon." Only the lack of server space keeps me from sharing them all.  These songs are in Mp3 format. Feel free to download a copy of the songs that you like.****

I purposely chose a song to share that has me singing back ground vocals even though there were songs, such as "Sailing Away", on the album that I sang lead.  This website is not about me, it is about Jesus Christ.  Jesus is coming soon.  I am simply doing my best to follow Him and be in the back ground leading people to the Lord.

There are enough well known preachers in the forefront and I feel no need to have the eyes of people on me. If you are following a preacher or evangelist that has the attitude that "It's all about me, and look at what I've done", then you are following the wrong preacher or evangelist.  We, together, are supposed to be following Christ. That is what the Lighthouse Singers were all about.  What we did is not the important thing.  What the Lord will accomplish through you if you are a willing vessel is what I am trying to make you understand during this introduction to Lighthouse Evangelical Ministries.

I have heard it said “if He comes in my lifetime….” To those who have the belief that the second coming of Jesus is not eminent I would like to ask one question.  How can you not know?  We are in the “Final Hour” before Christ’s return. I had a hard time deciding whether to call this ministry Lighthouse Evangelical Ministries or Final Hour Ministries.  I am sure that if I had not have been involved with Lighthouse as a name since 1989 I would have named this ministry Final Hour Ministries.  I only need to look at three short pieces of scripture to know that He is right at the door.  Matthew 24:3-8 states:

“And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

All these are the beginning of sorrows.”

Matthew chapter 24 covers a number of other things and then in verses 33 and 34 it states a very solid statement.

“So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.”

Try to tell me that we don’t have wars and rumors of wars like we have never before seen in human history and I will tell you that you have your head buried in the sand.

Then there is that part about earthquakes in diverse places.  We have seen this come to pass before our eyes. There are earthquakes all over the planet.  When I was a child there were few earthquakes.  There are probably as many earthquakes in one year now as I remember there being throughout my entire childhood.

This leads me to the book of Luke as it covers the same subject about the second coming.  Luke 21:25:26 states:

“And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.”

Did you know that the sun started to produce two new frequencies of ultraviolet radiation in 1991?  People are trying to blame “global warming” on greenhouse gasses that mankind produces, such as Freon.  If this is so then why is there “global warming” on other planets in our solar system? We haven't been on those planets to pump greenhouse gases into their atmosphere! Mankind only produces two percent of all the greenhouse gasses that are in the atmosphere.  The other ninety-eight percent is caused by natural processes.  If we look to the Bible we will find out what is causing the warming of this planet.  It has nothing to do with greenhouse gasses mankind produces.  We will not be able to stop what is happening either, because it is being done by  "God, which hath power over these plagues."  Revelation 16:8-9 states:

"And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire. And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory."

If we are to stop global warming then all of us need to repent of those thing which are not Godly in our lives, but God already knows that the majority of mankind will not repent but instead will curse Him rather than giving Him the glory He deserves.

Have we not seen earthquakes in diverse places such as the one that caused the tsunami that killed over one quarter of a million people in Indonesia?  Tsunami? Could this be a part of “the sea and the waves roaring” in Luke 21:25?  Could all the recent hurricanes be a part of the same verse? You say no?  Well then let us talk about the four hurricanes that hit the coast of Florida all in the same year and most making landfall in almost the same location. This was followed by New Orleans getting hit by hurricane Katrina which almost completely destroyed that city.

Still not convinced?  Let us talk about the actions of mankind on earth.  What people will be like just before the second coming of Jesus is covered in 2 Timothy 3:1-5 which states”

“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

The word incontinent in verse 3 means without any self-control.  Mankind, as a whole, has totally lost any self-control.  Road rage is not a disease as some of the psychiatric community has tried to portray.  It is a sign of the time.  All you have to do is look a few houses down the street, or even in your own home, to find children that are totally out of control and disobedient to parents.

Whether you believe it and like it or not, Jesus IS coming soon. The question is, are you ready?

I was present at a meeting when a man was asked a question about who was the leader of his church.  The man answered  with the name of human being that is the leader of his church.  The person asking the question politely let him know that Christ is supposed to be the head of any church that calls themselves a Christian denomination. I am going decline saying which denomination the man being asked the question belonged to because this is not a website about denominations, it is about your relationship with Christ.  Is Jesus Christ the head of your church and Lord of your life?

I was originally lead to the Lord by two dear brothers in Christ, Sonny and Doug, over thirty years ago while in the Navy. They were my shipmates and had to endure my  antics for months.  I would tell them insane things like "all my friends will be in hell so I will be in good company." I was a very messed up individual.  Here is the picture of what they had to deal with.

I was raised as a Mormon, but by this time I was practicing witchcraft and trying to bring about the demise of some people I hated by casting spells on them. I was full of anger and hatred.

Do not even attempt to quote me as saying that Mormons practice witchcraft! Even though there are a lot of false prophets and false doctrine in the LDS church, they would have excommunicated me for practicing satanic witchcraft.

Sonny and Doug had to endure months of me first talking about hell and then switching to Mormon doctrine.  At the worst points the would simply tell me that they would talk to me at a later time, and they were always faithful to keep their promises. We would sometimes stay up all night talking and then go to work, just to stay up half of the next night. Both Sonny and Doug were tireless in their determination to bring me to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

One day I came back to the ship and Sonny was standing watch on the quarterdeck.  I told him something about the Mormons being weird and then walked off.  He had to remain on watch, which I am sure drove him crazy, and I am sure he could not wait to track me down after he got off watch.

To make a long story a little less long, I was lead to the Lord and my life was forever change.  I was not "soundly saved" yet but I had made my profession of faith and later on totally surrendered my life to Jesus Christ. I have no anger toward anyone now, and that is an accomplishment only Christ could have done in my life.

During the decade of the 90's I had the pleasure of working with one of the finest ministry teams that God has ever put together on earth.  The woman that you see on the left of the cassette "J" card is Evon Mouser.  The man you see seated on the right is Don Mouser. I am standing in the back where I always like to be.  I enjoy being in the background and allow others to be in the spotlight.  My responsibilities included being the sound engineer and making sure the music was ready for the revivals and benefits we were asked to sing at.  Don and Evon would make the bookings and do most of the public relations work.

Now that you know what we did as a singing group let me tell you what Jesus did through us as a ministry team.  Singing is great but reaching souls for Christ is a much greater calling and responsibility.  Witnessing and soul winning is a commandment given to us by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  The Lighthouse Singers went to churches and ministry outreaches all over the southern United States but that is not nearly as important as the souls reached in our own back yard of Austin, Texas.

I must tell you about the first four years because that is the real story.  You must understand that singings and concerts set up at churches and ministry outreaches are attended by mostly Christians with only a few lost souls invited by members of the churches.  Most people that are living without God never go to church or any of the concerts hosted by churches.  The people that Christian singing groups hope to reach are those who have religion but don't really have a saving relationship with Jesus Christ.  We are looking to reach those who have a head knowledge of Jesus Christ but have no heart knowledge of Him.

Satan has a head knowledge of Jesus, and so do all the demons.  They understand the Bible better than the theologians that have been studying the Word of God for decades.  People who have a head knowledge of Jesus without the necessary heart knowledge are just as lost and hell bound as Satan and the demons.  The tragedy of it is that they are heading to hell and don't even know it.  They think that just because they made a small "profession of faith" that they can go to heaven even though they are still just as deep in sin as they were before they made that false profession. What these people need is to be soundly saved.  If people that have a head knowledge of Christ don't get soundly saved it is possible for them to end up spending an eternity in hell, and head there carrying a Bible in their hand.  I know this is true because I used to be a part of their number.  These are the people that Christian singers can reach, but the multitudes of people that have not heard the gospel preached to them are out in the world and not in the churches. The lost souls out in the world far out number those that go to church on Sunday.

For a better understanding of being soundly saved you can go to the Way of the Master website and download a free copy of a sound track called Soundly Saved.  I highly recommend that you do so whether you believe yourself to be soundly saved or not.

There is some scripture that describes my life for many years, even while in ministry.

Corinthians  3:11-15

" For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.

If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire."

I am ashamed to admit that during a portion of the last 30 years I question whether I would have actually gone to heaven if I would have died.  At the very best I would have made in only by the skin of my teeth.  Most of my works would have been burned up. I did not totally turn my back on the Lord but I sure was running in the wrong direction. During a tragedy in my life I even walked out of ministry for a period of time.

For those who don't believe you can go to hell after accepting Christ, I would like for you to explain this passage of Scripture:

Hebrews 6:1-6

Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this will we do, if God permit.

For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

There are arguments between denominations about whether a person can fall from grace once they are saved.  I will not argue this point since the only ones that the answer effects are those not living for the Lord, and doing the the things the Bible tells us to do. I want to find all that are in that category and try to lead them to a relationship with the Lord that will never leave them.

If it was not for the Lord carrying me through the darkest times of my life I would have probably fell into the category of the scripture I just quoted.  During these bad times I was given a glimpse of what Sonny and Doug went through in leading me to the Lord, and I knew I wanted to meet them in heaven, and thank them.

The Lighthouse Singers actually started out as a ministry to the homeless.  In the year 1988 Don and Evon were working with the homeless.  They started out in their church taking a bus to the Salvation Army and picking up people that wanted something good to eat.  It is hard to tell someone about the love of Jesus when they are hungry.  They would pick up people that were hungry and take them to church.  After the church service the homeless were fed a meal that would have cost them six to seven dollars in a restaurant. They would then be taken back to the Salvation Army where they were sleeping.

Don used his own money to pay for fuel that was required for the big school bus that he used to pick up the homeless.  Contrary to the popular belief of most people, not everyone that is homeless is a lazy bum.  Later I will prove to you this point.  Next time you are thinking about telling a homeless person to get a job just remember that most of us are only a few paychecks away from being homeless ourselves.  When you tell them to get a job I hope you have one to give to them, otherwise please remain silent.

The year 1988 is when I met Don and Evon.  It is said that confession is good for the soul.  I spent years in ministry not being soundly saved. I had spent many years in church and had gone forward for alter calls aimed at backsliders.  My trouble was the same as many in the church now.  I had never fully slid forward in the first place, so how could I backslide? I had made a "profession of faith" and never fully surrendered my life to Jesus Christ.  I simply did not want to go to hell so I went forward to miss hell yet I never gave Jesus complete Lordship over my life. I still kept some of the same sin in my life as before I answered the salvation alter call.  I still drank at times, I still lusted, and a multitude of other things that there is not room to go into here.

I knew years before, even though I was not yet soundly saved, that I was to be in ministry.  Back in the late 70's I even went to a pastor and told him that I felt that I was to be in ministry.  In the mid to late 1980's I worked for three years with an awesome evangelist named Bill Howard.  Brother Bill had a large tent that he would hold tent crusades under during the summer.  I helped him move it from place to place and even preached a time or two.  This is where I first started singing Southern Gospel music.

In the early to mid 80's I went to a church where the pastor was asked to resign because he held a healing service and some people received miraculous healing of things they had been tormented with since childhood.  Knowing I was to be in ministry, a small number of us in the congregation helped the pastor pioneer a new church.  We met in a volunteer fire station for a short time and then God provided a building for the new church.  This was during the same time period that I was helping with the tent crusade.

At this church I started singing when I was not at the tent.  I could not carry a tune in a bucket but I kept at it until one day a new voice came out of my mouth. It was given to me by the Lord for the sole purpose of singing Christian music. I know this to be the case because it is witnessed by the fact that if I try to sing anything outside of Christian music I still can not carry a tune in a bucket.

Remember that I was not yet soundly saved, and yet God was preparing me for things He had in store for my future.  It was at this church when I was again told to do something by the Lord.  I was told to move sixteen hundred miles away and attend a bible college in Texas.  I told this to my wife.  She told me that she had no intentions of moving to Texas.  I told the Lord that my wife didn't want to move, I had thousands of dollars worth of possessions to move, and I had a real good job that I would have to replace.  I told the Lord that the move to Texas would have to be at a later date because it was not convenient at that time.  I broke the first of the Ten Commandment "You shall have no other gods before Me."

To make a long story shorter, I ended up two years later without my fancy job, without any family, without any of the possessions I told the Lord I would have to move, I ended up in Texas about the time I would have graduated bible college if I would have obeyed the Lord.  I had cheated myself out of the bible college I was supposed to go to, my family, my possessions and a job.  I ended up in Austin, Texas where I am sure God had intended me to be, at the exact time I would have been there if I had been obedient to what I had been told to begin with.  I was in Austin as one of the homeless people.

I was living at the Salvation Army with the winos and drug addicts, although I did not participate in their activities, when Don came to pick a group of homeless people up to take them to church.  Since I was hungry, and knew I should be going to church, I climbed aboard the old blue school bus and we headed out.  When we got to the church it was an awesome building with a huge sanctuary.  I again went forward at the alter call trying to do business with the Lord and like many times before I still was not willing to give my life totally over to the Lord so my life did not change, and some of the same old sins remained in me.

Even though I still was not soundly saved I still had the longing to be in active ministry.  The Lord was still speaking to me and the Holy Spirit dealing with me about my life.  Then one day the pastor and congregation of the church we were attending decided that they no longer wanted the homeless to worship with them.  They had decided that there was no place in their church for a bunch of smelly people with tattered cloths coming to their church, so they kicked us out.  They did not seem to like the fact that the homeless were quickly catching up in numbers to those who were actual "members" of that church.

God moved quickly and a building was provided for us the same week.  I had already started helping with some money to help pay for fuel to power the bus so it was no stretch to continue giving money to that ministry.  Where did I get the money?  I was donating plasma twice a week, so the money was literally coming from my own blood.  I had been spending eight hours each weekday trying to find someone who would hire a person that had no address, phone number, or fresh change of cloths.

The building that was provided already had an outreach to the homeless.  The back rooms were filled with old drywall, and a host of other refuse, but it had one open spot that we were allowed to use for services.  The church that kicked us out almost immediately started having trouble.  Their associate pastor started womanizing and their pastor quit.  There numbers dwindled while the numbers attending the Austin Lighthouse Street Ministry Church began to grow by leaps and bounds.  We outgrew the small room in a few short weeks and were allowed to clear the entire back of the building for church and food preparation.  It was at this time that I said a simple prayer one day.  I told the Lord that I wanted to be back in ministry where I belonged.  I told the Lord that I did not care if the job was waiting tables for my homeless brothers and sisters.  The Lord took me at my word and soon after Don and Evon asked me to become a part of their ministry team.  My first job?  Waiting tables for the homeless during the six day a week feeding of the homeless.  I happily accepted the position.  It never occurred to me how strange it was to have someone in ministry feeding the homeless while being homeless themselves.  My homeless condition soon ended with finding a good paying job, and volunteering my time in the ministry to the homeless. The Lord provided the job that I was looking for after ten months of searching.

How much difference can a person make in the world?  I can tell you how much difference three people together can make.  Out of that "little" ministry we saw hundreds of people saved, over three hundred people come off the street, and a number of preachers came out of that "little" congregation.  The congregation of the church for the homeless had a record number of 356 people in attendance on Sunday.

Many of the homeless helped one year with Easter services at one of the city parks in Austin complete with a huge tent, gospel groups, and people were lead to the Lord.  When the Lord closed the door on that ministry, out of the 356 people that attended only 15 were left, all of which were there only for the food.  All the others were off the street, in churches, married, having children, and some were pastors of churches.  The most hardened drug dealer in Austin, Texas got saved and last I heard he was the pastor of a church in Dallas.

I must interject at this point that it was not our ministry team that saved over three hundred people, it was Jesus Christ.  We were willing to feed people, witness to people and hold church services.  The Holy Spirit convicted them of sin and Jesus saved them.  This story is NOT about what we did.  It is about what Jesus Christ did through us, and can do through any Christian that is willing to be a vessel that the Lord can work through.  God gets all, and I mean ALL, the praise, honor and glory for what happened through Austin Lighthouse Street Ministry. Without Him we could have done absolutely nothing.  The Lord sent all the food to us so we were able to feed over 300 people six days a week.  We could not have afforded to pay for one tenth of the food we fed the homeless every week.

Jesus is Lord.  Without Him we can do nothing. but  "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." Phillipians 4:13

Keep your eyes on Jesus.  Not on me or any other evangelist, not on a church president, not on a priest or pope, not on a pastor.  Keep your eyes on Christ!  Man will fail you but Christ will never fail you.

So how did the Lighthouse Singers come to be?  The three of us started singing together as a part of the ministry to the homeless.  Once the Lord closed the door on that ministry He opened another one and we stepped in.  We sang together for over a decade, first to the homeless, then in churches, ministry outreaches and retirement homes all over the southern states.  As you can tell from the song you are hearing, we were not even that good, but the Lord only asks that we be willing vessels.  We spent our time raising money for other churches building funds, church class rooms, and doing other benefits. We were sometimes booked six months in advance.

We never asked for a dime from a collection plate.  We all had regular jobs. The "love offerings" that were taken for us, with few exceptions, were given with our love to the pastor of the church we were invited to for the needs of his family.  The only time we ever accepted the love offering was if it would insult the pastor and his congregation to do otherwise.  In over a decade the money we accepted totaled less than six hundred dollars. That money went back into books and tapes to give away.  Our ministry was always to the poor of the earth, and in my life now the poor are always with me.

Just in case you were wondering, I was soundly saved thanks to a woman named Lisa who invited me during a parade to the awesome church I attend right now when I am not out in the field trying to win souls. Thank you Lisa!  You are an instrument of the Lord.  This time I gave the Lord every part of me, and all the old sin that remained was forgiven and removed.  My life has been changed forever.  Am I perfect?  Not by a long shot!  The difference is that now I sometimes fall into sin and have to repent.  Before I was soundly saved I used to dive into sin, and seldom repented.  If you are diving into sin rather than accidentally slipping into sin then you need to ask Jesus to come into your heart and making Him Lord of your life.

Well that is the story of the Lighthouse Singers.  As you can see, singing was just a small part of us.  The important part of the story is not the singing.  The souls that were saved are the only truly significant part of the story.  If we would have only gone around the country singing then our lives would have been wasted.  When we reach the end of our life's story there is only one question that has any relevance relating to our relationship with those we have contact with in this life.  The question is a two part question.

"How have you treated your fellow man, and did you lead them to the Lord?"

Our Southern Gospel group "The Lighthouse Singers"  is no longer together and the Lord has sent its members in different directions.  We are on new and, hopefully, even greater exploits in the Lord.

You too can be used to lead those you come in contact with to the Lord.  You have the opportunity to lead even greater numbers to the Lord than the 300+ souls I have spoken about during my years with Austin Lighthouse Street Ministry, and the Lighthouse Singers.  All that is required is that you be a willing vessel totally surrendered to the Lord for His use.

In the same tradition of the Austin Lighthouse Street Ministry and The Lighthouse Singers, you will not find anywhere on this website where we ask you for money.  Your tithe belongs at the church you attend, along with your offerings.  The thing that you will find are some free items from time to time, including Bibles, as God provides them for us to give away. You will know when there are free items available when a link appears that says "Free Items Page".

Almost 2000 years ago Jesus sent out the apostles and told them to "Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. Matt 10:8

In that same Spirit we have chosen to freely give.

Thank you Sonny and Doug for leading me to the Lord and Thank you Lisa for leading me to the Full surrender of every part of my life to the Lord.
